1. Who we are

FreeeWater operates freeewater.com. We provide free water funded by brand advertising and support community hydration projects. This policy explains how the website handles your information, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Essential storage (always active)

We use essential browser storage to keep the site working — for example session state for the admin area and basic site preferences. These identifiers are necessary for the service and are not used for advertising or tracking.

3. Optional analytics (only after you accept)

When you click Accept cookies on the banner, we run privacy-safe first-party analytics. Before acceptance, nothing is created, stored or sent. With consent we collect:

• Identifiers: randomly generated visitor and session IDs created with crypto.randomUUID() — never derived from personal data.
• Events: page views, click positions and element types (visible text is never captured), scroll depth, section dwell time, and form field focus/submit (field names only — never typed values, contact details, budgets, demographics or messages).
• Technical context: device type, screen size, language and referrer.
• Geography: country/region derived server-side from network headers, stored as "unknown" when unavailable. Raw IP addresses are not stored; at most a salted hash is retained when our server-side salt is configured.

Analytics events are deleted after a maximum of 90 days. Aggregated reports may be kept longer with identifiers removed.

4. Enquiries and contact forms

Contact, advertising and distribution enquiries you submit are sent to our team (currently via a private messaging channel) so we can respond. We keep these messages only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Advertising budget figures, demographics and message text are treated as confidential business information.

5. Withdrawing consent

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to re-open the banner and reject optional cookies at any time. Rejection stops tracking immediately, removes analytics storage and disconnects all tracking listeners. You can also clear your browser's local storage.
